For what I expecting for Justine character through her appearance on Rainshadow Road and Dream Lake, I thought she would be a strong, practical, and an outspoken woman. But yet, she turned out to be vulnerable and insecure for most part. Which is makes me so  disapointed :(

Karakter Jason sendiri kurang greget. Memang sih Jason ini dominan dan controlling, tapi jarang sekali dilihatin sisi personalnya. Bahkan Alex Nolan (Dream Lake) yang mendeskripsikan dirinya sendiri sebagai seorang yang sangat impersonal nyatanya mampu digambarkan Lisa Kleypas sebagai sosok yang personal dengan kecintaannya pada carpenting (building houses) dan minum-minuman keras. But, Jason? None.

Saya sampai nggak nyadar kapan Justine dan Jason falling in love, tiba-tiba aja mereka jadi saling suka, there's no process. Saya setuju dengan banyak review di goodreads, too much magic's and less character development. But, Lisa Kleypas always been great in her writing style so I've had enjoyed it nonetheless.

Satu yang unik menurut saya, tentang Jason yang rupanya soulless. Human without a soul. Nothing's mattered, yet he never get satisfied by his achievement. Itulah kenapa orang-orang soulless biasanya terus menerus berusaha keras, dalam kasus Jason dia nimbun harta dan mencapai kesuksesan dalam kesempurnaan kayak orang haus, he craving for more as if he doesn't have much time, which is true.

Soulless people are capable for feeling emotion, has an intelligence, and even loving someone else. But they don't have much time, itulah kenapa mereka nggak pernah puas. Mereka harus mencoba segala sesuatu dan mencapai apa yang mereka inginkan secepat mungkin karena jauh dalam hati mereka sadar kalau nggak punya banyak waktu. When they're gone, their existance are really gone. Sebagian besar soulless people nggak nyadar kalau dirinya nggak punya jiwa.

Wow, menurut saya topik soulless ini sesuatu yang menarik. Jujur saja saya baru denger hal semacam ini untuk pertanya kalinya.. dan saya masih penasaran dengan soulless people. 

Bagaimana seseorang bisa dilahirkan sebagai soulless sementara yang lainnya punya soul? Kok bisa soulless people nggak nyadar kalau dirinya soulless (dalam kasus Jason, dia sadar kalau dia soulless setelah bermeditasi di kuil Buddha, which is a rare thing because most of them usually didn't notice that they are soulless)? Bagaimana cara mengetahui seseorang itu a soulless, padahal mereka yang soulless tetap bisa merasakan emosi, jatuh cinta, and also being a lovelly, nice, polite poeple?

Wew.. saya butuh penjelasan lebih banyak tentang ini. Ada yang tahu tempat diskusiin topik ini? 

PS: Rupanya masih ada seri lanjutannya, judulnya Ligthning Bay (Friday Harbor #5) which would be released in September 2013, btw. Hiks, T.T lama banget ya. Kalau baca previewnya sih premisenya menarik, tentang malaikat yang terjebak dalam tubuh manusia trus dia terpaksa hidup sebagai orang lain.. living someone elses live. In his case is being someone elses' fiance.
